The Significance of Vaikasi Visakam
Vaikasi Visakam is said to be the day when Lord Muruga incarnated in this world with the mission of saving earth from demons like Soorapadman. Vaikasi Visakam is one of the most important festivals celebrated in Murugan temples.
Lord Muruga, the son of Lord Shiva, and the younger brother of Lord Ganesha is venerated as Kaliyuga Varada, the God who blesses and protects those who ardently seek His grace. Lord Muruga contains in Himself the three Divine Eternal functions -- creation (srishti), protection (sthithi) and destruction (samhara) as evidenced by the three first letters in His name: MU -- Mukundan (Vishnu), RU -- Rudra (Siva) and KA -- Kamalan (Brahma).
Bhogar Siddhar at Parashathi Temple
Siddhars are Gurus who are believed to control and transcend the barriers of time and space by meditation.
Bogar Siddhar, is one of the 18 siddhars who chose the Palani Malai (mountain) in South India as the site for intensive yogic practice (tapas) for the final stage. He is present at Parashakthi Temple as intense boon giving form. Devotees can easily reach Lord Muruga through Bhogar Siddhar as he was the original seer of Lord Muruga.
