Lord Sri Siva Gayathri

Om That Purushaya Vidhmahe

Maha Devaya Dheemahi

Tanno Rudhra Prachothayaath

An abhishekam for Lord Shiva is done every day at 9.30 AM.

Lord Siva represents the aspect of the Supreme Being (Brahman of the Upanishads) that continuously dissolves to recreate in the cyclic process of creation, preservation, dissolution, and recreation of the universe. Owing to His cosmic activity of dissolution and recreation, the words destroyer and destruction have been erroneously associated with Lord Siva. Lord Siva is the Lord of mercy and compassion. He protects devotees from evil forces such as lust, greed, and anger. He grants boons, bestows grace and awakens wisdom in His devotees.

A unique addition to the Parasakthi Temple is a Marakatha (Emerald) Siva Lingam that has been placed in the temple for worship on Maha Sivarathri day. Devotees may pray and touch this Lingam on Maha Sivarathri. This emerald lingam from India symbolizing Siva-Sakthi is a Sri-Vidhya Thanthric symbol. Worshipping the Lingam is believed to save people from rebirths resulting in the union of the soul with God. Our temple devotees are fortunate to have this opportunity on Sivarathri day to offer our prayers to Lord Siva.
