The Significance of Sri Devi Vaarahi Ambika
Sri Devi Vaarahi Ambika is one of the Saivite Sakthi deities with the group of Goddesses known as 'Sapthamathrukas' or the 'Seven Mothers.' The seven mothers are: Brahmani, Maheshwari, Kaumari, Vaishnavi, Varahi, Indrani and Chamundi. They are the Sakthi (female) equivalents of their male counterparts. Sri Devi Varahi Ambika is the 5th among the 7 Sapthamatrukas, and hence also called Panchami. In association with the Sapthamathrukas, Sri Devi Varahi Ambika can be said to be the representation of the controlled energy of courage and fearlessness.

The Significance of Devi Vaarahi Homam at Parashakthi Temple

Doing Vaarahi Homam on Amavasyas, especially Aadi Amavasai pleases the pitrus and they bestow their blessings. Vaarahi Homam is done in the night when the asuric forces gain strength. Sri Varaahi Devi fights the asuric forces who let go off the pitrus, who they are holding down from going to higher realms, thereby temporarily allowing pitrus to go to higher realms and get that temporary freedom. The pitrus bless their living successor generations therefore.

At Parashakthi Temple, we perform Varaahi Homam on every Amavasya nights and it is auspicious for everyone to participate and get blessings.
