Abhishekam for Lord Shiva is done every day at 9.30 AM.
Lord Shiva represents the aspect of the Supreme Being
(Brahman of the Upanishads) that continuously dissolves
to recreate in the cyclic process of creation,
preservation, dissolution and recreation of the
universe. Owing to His cosmic activity of dissolution
and recreation, the words destroyer and destruction have
been erroneously associated with Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva
is the Lord of mercy and compassion. He protects
devotees from evil forces such as lust, greed, and
anger. He grants boons, bestows grace and awakens wisdom
in His devotees.
Also, a unique addition to the Parashakthi Temple is a
Maragatha Lingam which is made of Emerald Rock and has
been placed in the Temple for worship on MahaShivarathri
day. Devotees may pray and touch this Lingam on
Mahashivarathri. This emerald lingam from India
symbolizing Shiva-Shakthi is a Sri-Vidya Tantric symbol.
Worshipping the Lingam is believed to save people from
rebirths resulting in union of the soul with God. Our
Temple devotees are fortunate to have this opportunity
on Shivarathri day to offer our prayers to Lord Shiva.
